Summary/Objective Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of Salem facilities, Offices and Vehicles. Duties & Responsibilities Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs carpentry & general construction: woodwork, sanding, drywall repair, etc. Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned. Complete inspections and maintain housekeeping of offices and laboratories with Maintenance Supervisor. Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.
Facility Repairs:
doors, doorknobs, locks, broken tiles, polish floors, staining, etc. Complete grounds work which may include picking up trash, sweeping curb and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas. Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines. Conduct inspections and repairs on all Salem owned vehicles. Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed. Attend all required training's and staff meetings. Complete required E-learning coursework by due dates. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
Qualifications Travel Required:
100 % up to 30 miles to various facilities and meetings. Willingness to drive company vehicle for business purposes.
Hours Required:
This is a full-time 40-hour position with various shifts. Willing to work on-call as needed.
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Required:
A minimum of 1 year experience in building or residential maintenance. Basic computer skills for using Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, Internet and related business applications.
Skills and Abilities:
Be able to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, poise, friendliness and sensitivity. Ability to think clearly and manage multiple changing priorities while using good judgement. Be able to maintain integrity and confidentiality. Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations. Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods. Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices. Must be able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate verbally by phone in a concise and clear manner.
Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to navigate several flights of stairs during each work shift. Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer, stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl approx. 8 hours a day. Ability to drive in heavy traffic and inclement weather.
License Required:
A valid California Driver's License - Class II/C. Proof of current auto insurance.
