Position Summary:
As our Maintenance Technician , you will serve as the operational owner of the facility infrastructure supporting aerospace manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role responsible for the reliability, compliance, safety, and readiness of all building systems that directly support production. You will oversee all maintenance needs, contractors, in-house installations and repairs, manage preventive building maintenance programs, and partner closely with EHS, Engineering, Quality, and Operations. This role requires sound judgement, technical depth, troubleshooting, disciplined execution, flexibility with schedule changes, and the ability to operate independently in a highly regulated environment. This role is for an individual who operates comfortably in high-expectation, highly regulated manufacturing environments; takes full ownership of building, sustaining, and defending infrastructure that never becomes the bottleneck; and has the mindset of a business operator - not a caretaker. This position reports to the Sr. EHS & Facilities Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training, trade certifications, or equivalent professional experience strongly preferred. 5-8+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, aerospace, construction or similarly regulated industrial environment. Proven hands-on experience independently diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical and plumbing faults under pressure. Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, compressed air, vacuum systems, fire protection, and building utilities. Proficient in the use of construction and maintenance tools such as impact/hammer drill, circular saws, skill saw, welding torch, sander, drain auger, angle grinder, voltmeter, etc... Experience operating, installing and repairing pneumatic/air tools (air ratchets, nail guns), threaders, or hydraulic crimpers and quick connect and push connect fasteners and fittings. Knowing how to isolate energy sources (LOTO) before performing mechanical or electrical service on stationary power equipment. Securing workpieces with clamps or vices rather than holding them by hand while operating heavy tools; ensuring a safe work area for everyone around. Fabrication of workstations using various materials; workstation features, including threaded leveling feet, overhead LED lighting racks, wood form bords, pneumatic quick-connect lines, under-mount rack or drawer units, and electrical outlets as per NEC requirements. Repairing or replacing leaking faucets, shut-off valves, flushometers, sink basin traps (P-traps), and garbage disposals, sweating coper pipes, clear clogs with available tools. Hands on experience with repairs and installation of flooring, drywall, ceiling tiles, doors, restroom fixtures, painting, creform frames, assembly of furniture/cubicles, cabinets, sinks, windows, etc… Collect, sort, and inspect accumulation of Hazardous and Universal waste streams (solvents, oils, heavy metals, paints, flammables, corrosive chemicals, e-waste, and batteries) from all departments. Maintain accurate inventory counts, inspection logs, shipping manifests, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), waste labeling, and chain-of-custody documentation. Conduct routine weekly, monthly and quarterly facility inspections adhering to standards across walking-working surfaces, fire protection, life safety systems, and chemical storage, eye wash stations, AEDs, satellite accumulation areas, and other areas assigned. Inspect emergency egress routes, exit signage, and battery-backed emergency lighting; maintain required test logs and all required inspection documentation. Inspect ladders, shop tools, personal protective equipment (PPE), and machine guards to ensure compliance with OSHA machinery guarding requirements. Document inspection findings, generate corrective action work orders, and maintain audit-ready digital or physical safety logs and records. Maintain all EHS and Facilities related drawings; department layout, electrical/plumbing/mechanical drawings, including fire/egress, Chemicals, equipment, storm drains and others drawings as applicable. Create SOPs and PM checklist to ensure recommended OEM and best practices are followed and checked. Must be able and willing to work mandatory overtime (10hrs weekly), weekends, off-shift hours as required to support production and special projects, and all other facility's needs. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting Working knowledge of AS9100 facility infrastructure and preventive maintenance requirements. Understanding of ITAR physical security controls and restricted production environments. Experience managing contractors, vendors, and facility-related projects. Ability to comply with Cal/OSHA, OSHA, EPA, DTSC, and local regulatory requirements. Strong documentation discipline with an appreciation for audit readiness. Strong Candidates will have 608 Universal Cert, OSHA 10-hour, valid DL, Journeyman License. Lead and support all external contractors and vendors supporting facility maintenance, greenfield expansion projects, workstation installations, and infrastructure upgrades. Ensure all contractor work complies with Aptiv safety, security, quality, and ITAR requirements. Ensure protection of controlled materials, customer data, drawings, and documentation in accordance with ITAR requirements. Support compliance with Cal/OSHA, OSHA, EPA, DTSC, and local regulatory standards. Support management of hazardous waste handling and disposal (solvents, adhesives, epoxies, metal shavings) in accordance with regulatory mandates. Complete and maintain weekly, monthly, and annual facility inspections and documentation. Ensure safety and facility related work orders are prioritized and completed in a timely manner. Support and document CAPAs arising from EHS, Quality, customer, and corporate audits. Lead or support facility upgrades, equipment installations, and tenant improvement projects. Serve as a primary point of contact for facility emergencies including power failures, alarms, system outages, chemical incidents, flooding or leaks, EAP coordination, and other duties as they apply. Actively participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, inventories, and daily work logs, including time allocation by value stream. Communicate daily and weekly updates to the Sr. EHS & Facilities Manager regarding work order, project status, risks, and resources needs. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
