Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, safety, and maintenance of our facility's infrastructure and equipment. Your expertise will help create a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for all staff and visitors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills across a broad range of maintenance tasks while contributing to the overall success of our organization. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues using schematics, electrical equipment repair techniques, and tools such as ohmmeters. Conduct HVAC system repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal climate control within the facility. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment like programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for repairs and installations. Maintain building interior by performing carpentry, painting (including residential painting), and facilities equipment maintenance. Repair plumbing systems including leak detection, pipe repairs, fixture replacements, and plumbing system maintenance. Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately; utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work orders and documentation. Supervise or assist with projects involving welding, electrical work, or mechanical upgrades while ensuring safety compliance. Lead or support team efforts in facilities maintenance activities with a focus on customer service excellence. Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards and building codes. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or related roles with a strong mechanical background. Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry, painting, and general building interior maintenance. Hands-on experience with electrical work including troubleshooting with schematics and using tools like ohmmeters. Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), CMMS software, and schematics reading. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance machinery safely and effectively. Strong electrical experience including electrical equipment repair and electrical work standards. Experience with plumbing system maintenance and repair as well as HVAC system troubleshooting. Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience in a facilities environment is preferred. Excellent communication skills in English to coordinate tasks effectively across teams. Mechanical knowledge complemented by skills in maintenance painting and residential painting is advantageous.
