A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
Responsible for troubleshooting issues, performing repairs, and executing preventative maintenance tasks for production equipment, building systems, and grounds. Operates under general supervision, resolving most problems independently or with minor supervisory assistance while adhering to company Six Sigma principles.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on plant equipment and complete basic-to-complex machinery repairs.
Electrical Systems:
Perform electrical wiring and troubleshoot existing wiring (480V / 240V, 3-phase and single-phase). Arc Flash training is a plus.
Plumbing & Mechanical Systems:
Handle the repair and installation of plumbing (including black pipe threading, copper pipe sweating, and PVC) alongside the installation and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic pumps.
Facility & Grounds Upkeep:
Fix lighting, resolve water issues, and manage general building maintenance tasks.
Engineering & Fabrication Support:
Assist Manufacturing Engineering with equipment development, tooling, and utility rearrangement projects. Fabricate or modify parts using shop equipment.
Safety & Compliance:
Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, maintain safe use of hand and power shop tools, and execute daily clean-up standards.
Position Requirements Experience:
3+ years of professional maintenance or related industrial experience.
Preferred Technical Proficiencies:
Troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and CNC machines. Turret press, press brake, or laser operation and repair experience. Basic knowledge of air compressor and hoist operations/repairs.
Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with related technical training. Valid driver's license and Forklift Operator Certification.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Physical Effort:
Frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting, walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and upper body twisting. Maximum lifting up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs infrequently. Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet using lifts or ladders with fall protection.
Environment:
Metal fabrication and assembly shop setting, alongside indoor/outdoor storage areas. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, overhead cranes, heavy materials, and standard shop elements.
