JOB SUMMARY DCCH

is a non-profit social service agency serving children and families seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team to care for our 66-acre property housing horse stables, a playground, four buildings, and other ancillary buildings. This role reports to the Campus Facilities Manager and is essential in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mechanical systems, electrical and low-voltage systems, hydraulics, and facility equipment. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and skilled at troubleshooting and problem-solving. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general maintenance tasks to keep facilities, equipment, and building systems operating safely and efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify potential issues and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on low-voltage systems, hydraulic systems, mechanical components, and related facility equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and equipment schematics to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate repairs, installations, and equipment adjustments.
• Respond to maintenance work orders and service requests, troubleshoot equipment and facility issues, and complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maintain reliable operations.
• Work closely with maintenance and operations personnel to diagnose equipment issues, identify root causes, and recommend or implement corrective actions.
• Fabricate, modify, or repair parts and components as needed to support maintenance and repair activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, parts used, and other maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and follow established safety procedures and applicable regulations.
• Assist with identifying recurring equipment issues and recommend improvements to increase reliability and reduce downtime.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a physically demanding position that requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areas. The employee must be able to safely lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment. The position may also require pushing, pulling, and maneuvering equipment and materials throughout the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, field service, or a related technical field preferred.
• Ability to safely meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Working knowledge of low-voltage systems, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and technical schematics is highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and basic diagnostic equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and service documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and reliable workmanship.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong customer-service skills and the ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
• Works independently while collaborating effectively with maintenance, operations, and other technical personnel.
• Previous field-service or industrial maintenance experience is beneficial, particularly experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or other facility-related equipment.
