The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems to ensure a safe, clean, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for our guests and employees. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, able to troubleshoot maintenance issues, responds quickly to guest and staff requests, and takes pride in maintaining a high-quality Marriott guest experience. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and preventive maintenance throughout the hotel. Inspect and maintain guest rooms, hallways, public areas, meeting rooms, and back-of-house areas. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, doors, locks, fixtures, and other hotel equipment. Perform basic painting, drywall, carpentry, furniture, and general building repairs. Monitor and maintain heating, cooling, hot water, and other building systems. Assist with maintenance of kitchen, laundry, pool, mechanical, and banquet equipment as needed. Complete preventive maintenance tasks and document completed work. Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition. Assist with inspections and testing of life-safety equipment and systems as directed. Report major repairs, safety concerns, equipment failures, and potential hazards to management. Work with outside contractors and vendors when specialized repairs are required. Follow all hotel, Marriott, OSHA, and safety procedures. Respond to emergency maintenance situations when necessary. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with guests and coworkers. Support other hotel departments when maintenance assistance is needed. Qualifications & Skills Previous hotel, apartment, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests. Good communication and customer-service skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality are required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, when needed. Ability to respond to maintenance emergencies. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies and perform physical maintenance duties. Preferred Experience Hotel maintenance or engineering experience. HVAC experience or certification. Electrical or plumbing experience. Experience with preventive maintenance programs. Experience working with commercial building systems. Familiarity with Marriott hotel standards is a plus.
