Job Description

Who We Are:
At BACC, we provide essential community services, programs, support and projects that enhance the social, emotional and recreational development of youth and families of the Ballston Area. If you enjoy making a difference in your community, join our team at the BACC where you can use your talents to support a well-known not-for-profit community center. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team.
The Position:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and electrical background, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain various systems and equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to ensuring optimal operational efficiency within our busy facility. A successful Maintenance Technician will bring previous knowledge of facility maintenance, janitorial practices, and attention to detail.
General Duties:
Responsible for building and grounds maintenance year-round Removes snow and applies ice melt to all sidewalks and exit areas Perform minor repairs and installations Able to perform pre-inspections and preventative maintenance on facility systems and components Follows safe work procedures and wear all necessary personal protective equipment Helps to ensure our facility compliant with all Federal, State and Local laws and OSHA regulations Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities Cleans and disinfects common areas and high touch surfaces including floors, bathrooms, classrooms, kitchen, water fountain, trash collection duties, offices, gym, and community room daily Cleans woodwork, high dust areas, and behind/under furniture monthly or as needed
Schedule:
Flexible part-time schedule for second shift, 5:00pm-11:00pm.
Expected hours:
Approximately 25 hours /week There will be a legally permissible background check for the successful candidate.
Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age Ability to clean and perform janitorial duties effectively Able to work in extremes of weather and outside of regular business hours, as needed Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment Must be able to work on ladders, lifts and scaffolds Able to stand, walk, kneel for extended periods of times Ability to lift 40lbs Able to use hand and power tools safely and effectively Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear interaction with team members
Preferred Qualifications:
A working knowledge of plumbing, basic electrical, HVAC and carpentry Experience working in a school or childcare environment is a plus
