AMADA PRODUCTION SAW OPERATOR & MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a skilled, mechanically minded Amada Production Saw Operator & Maintenance Technician who knows their way around precision equipment and takes pride in keeping production moving. This is a hands on, dual focused role for someone who enjoys more than simply operating a machine. You'll be responsible for running Amada automatic band saws , cutting raw materials to exact blueprint specifications, and making sure the equipment you depend on stays in top working condition. Along with precision cutting, you'll perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and handle minor repairs to help minimize downtime and keep production running safely and efficiently. The right person brings a strong combination of saw operation experience, mechanical ability, attention to detail, and problem solving skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PRODUCTION & SAW OPERATION

Machine Setup:

Set up and prepare Amada production saws according to job orders, material types, cut lists, and production requirements.

Material Handling:

Safely load and unload raw materials, including tubing and bar stock, utilizing forklifts, material racks, and other appropriate equipment.

Precision Cutting:

Monitor the cutting process to maintain proper speeds, feeds, tolerances, and overall cut quality according to blueprints and job specifications.

Tumbling & Secondary Operations:

Assist with tumbling and other secondary operations required to properly finish parts.

Quality Control:

Inspect completed pieces using calipers, micrometers, squares, and tape measures to verify dimensional accuracy and ensure parts meet quality standards. Remove burrs and perform finishing as necessary.

Production Documentation:

Accurately maintain production logs, material usage records, scrap counts, and other required documentation.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE & REPAIR

Daily Preventative Maintenance:

Perform routine daily maintenance checks, including monitoring and topping off fluid levels, adjusting blade tension, removing chips, and keeping equipment clean and production ready.

Blade Management:

Monitor blade condition and wear, safely change saw blades when necessary, and help maintain an appropriate inventory of replacement blades.

Troubleshooting:

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues when equipment malfunctions occur.

Equipment Repairs:

Rebuild, repair, or replace worn components such as guides, rollers, coolant pumps, hydraulic seals, and other machine parts.

Vendor Coordination:

Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs and coordinate with external Amada service technicians when more complex repairs or specialized service are required.

BEYOND THE SAW

We operate as a team. Depending on production demands and shop workload, you may occasionally assist in other departments or areas of production. We're looking for someone who is willing to jump in, lend a hand, and help keep the entire operation moving.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience:

At least 2 to 3 years of experience operating production band saws and performing industrial machine maintenance. Previous Amada experience is highly preferred.

Blueprint Reading:

Ability to confidently read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, cut lists, and job specifications.

Precision Measurement:

Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, squares, tape measures, and other precision measuring tools.

Mechanical Aptitude:

Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drive systems, and general industrial equipment troubleshooting.

Problem Solving:

Ability to recognize equipment issues, troubleshoot effectively, and take appropriate action before a small problem becomes major downtime.

Forklift Experience:

Forklift certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, remain on your feet for extended periods, safely handle raw materials, and work comfortably in an active manufacturing environment where noise levels may be high.
