What is a Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician forms preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on the plant's process equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing of unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins. Work is performed with a strong emphasis on safety due to the handling of hazardous materials. The technician maintains mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-automated systems across the site's unit operations, including batch reactors, mixing and blending tanks, high-speed powder dispersion tanks, powder silos, pneumatic powder transfer systems, bulk-liquid transfer piping, and utilities (compressed air, inert/nitrogen gas, steam boilers, and the thermal oxidizer). This is an entry classification (Trainee) with a defined progression path through 3rd Class, 2nd Class, 1st Class, and ultimately General Maintenance. The Company's goal is for every maintenance worker to achieve General Maintenance and be fully cross-trained and on-call ready. What You Can Expect to Do as a
Maintenance Technician:
Promotes and practices safe work habits; follows all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work permitting, confined space entry, line breaking, and fall protection. Performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance (PM), and repairs on production machinery including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems to minimize downtime. Conducts emergency and unscheduled repairs on equipment during production to maintain operational continuity. Troubleshoots and diagnoses issues with process equipment, piping, wiring, and PLC-automated control systems. Repairs and maintains rotating equipment such as centrifugal and metering pumps, agitators, mixers, and high-speed dispersers, including bearings, seals, and couplings. Installs, modifies, and tests new or upgraded mechanical and electrical equipment to meet production needs. Maintains facility infrastructure, safety systems, and utilities while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to chemical handling. Records maintenance data and completes work orders in the plant's
EAM/CMMS
(e.g., Hexagon EAM), including labor, parts, and equipment history. Supports the site's Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs through inspections, ITPM tasks, and PM checklists. Participates in training and skills development to progress through the maintenance classifications, and assists in mentoring lower-class technicians as skills advance. Maintains housekeeping and 5S standards in the shop and process areas. Responds to on-call and call-back requests as required by the maintenance schedule. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Punctuality and regularity of attendance are job requirements. What We Are Looking For in a
Maintenance Technician:
2+ years industrial manufacturing experienceExperience working around pumps, valves, piping, motors, and rotating equipmentBasic troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systemsExperience with lockout/tagout (LOTO)Regular and reliable attendance.
