Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM About the Position Tuscarora Grain Co. is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined person to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our grain facility in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. This is a hands-on position for someone who likes working independently, operating equipment, maintaining a property, solving problems, and taking ownership of their work. Previous grain-industry experience is not required. We will train the right person. Experience in farming, equipment operation, trucking, construction, maintenance, landscaping, warehousing, manufacturing, or other hands-on work can be an excellent fit. This is the primary on-site position at the facility during normal business hours. Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM This position offers a consistent daytime schedule with no rotating shifts. Reliable attendance is extremely important. This is a key-holder position, and the employee must be able to consistently open the facility and have it ready for business by 8:00 AM. What You'll Do Responsibilities include: Open the facility each morning and close and secure it at the end of the day. Receive inbound grain trucks and load outbound grain trucks. Communicate professionally with truck drivers, suppliers, customers, and Tuscarora Grain employees. Collect grain samples and perform routine grain-quality testing. Test grain for moisture, test weight, temperature, and other required measurements. Visually inspect grain for damage, foreign material, insects, odor, and other quality issues. Enter inbound loads, outbound loads, inventory transfers, and other grain movements into our inventory system. Help maintain accurate physical and computerized grain inventory. Operate grain-handling equipment including augers, conveyors, grain legs, bins, pits, motors, and related equipment. Inspect equipment and identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems. Perform lubrication, cleaning, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs. Keep grain-handling areas, buildings, truck areas, equipment, and workspaces clean and organized. Perform mowing, weed control, snow removal, and general property maintenance. Monitor driveways, drainage, lighting, buildings, gates, and other facility infrastructure. Report equipment problems, safety concerns, spills, inventory discrepancies, and other significant issues to management. Assist contractors and service technicians working at the facility when necessary. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Is extremely dependable and takes attendance and punctuality seriously. Is comfortable working independently without constant supervision. Takes pride in keeping equipment and property in good condition. Notices problems and takes initiative to address them. Is mechanically inclined. Is comfortable operating agricultural, construction, industrial, or similar equipment. Can perform basic maintenance and minor repairs. Has strong attention to detail. Is comfortable using a phone, tablet, or computer for basic data entry. Can communicate professionally with truck drivers, customers, suppliers, and coworkers. Is willing to learn grain handling, grain-quality testing, and our inventory system. Has a valid driver's license. Experience in farming, mechanical work, equipment operation, construction, landscaping, trucking, warehousing, manufacturing, or grain handling is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position. The employee must be able to: Work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. Work in hot, cold, dusty, and changing weather conditions. Regularly stand and walk throughout the workday. Bend, crouch, reach, and perform routine maintenance tasks. Safely climb stairs and ladders. Safely lift and carry approximately 50 pounds. Work around grain dust, trucks, machinery, moving equipment, and industrial noise. Safely perform routine property-care and equipment-maintenance activities. Training Training will be provided for: Grain receiving and shipping procedures. Grain-quality testing.
