Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician at Cameron Appraisal District is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and facility upkeep to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for staff and visitors. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and overseeing the condition of the districts building and grounds. The Maintenance Technician ensures that all systems, such as plumbing, and electrical, are operating properly and complies with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general building repairs. Conduct preventative maintenance on district equipment and systems to reduce downtime and ensure operational efficiency. Inspect the facility regularly to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns, addressing issues in a timely manner. Maintain the cleanliness and order of the building's interior and exterior, including landscaping, parking areas, and walkways. Respond to maintenance requests and service calls from staff, ensuring prompt and effective solutions. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in equipment and systems, coordinating with external vendors or specialists when necessary. Monitor and maintain the inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, ensuring that materials are available for repairs and maintenance tasks. Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for meetings, events, and special projects. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and inspections, providing reports to the Business Operations Manager, as needed. Work with external contractors and service providers for major repairs or specialized maintenance tasks. Ensure that maintenance areas, tools, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and in good working condition. Assist with minor construction or renovation projects, as directed by the Business Operations Manager or Chief Appraiser. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the districts facilities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building systems is preferred. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and troubleshooting equipment issues. Valid drivers license required.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong mechanical and technical skills with the ability to diagnose and repair building systems and equipment. Good problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication. Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff and external vendors. Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform manual labor as required. Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken, to perform job duties effectively. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions, and involves physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and bending. The Maintenance Technician may be required to work shift work (6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.), and occasional weekends to handle emergencies or special projects.
