Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and general facility maintenance to support the safe and efficient operation of Lusamerica Foods' Fife facility. This position supports production, packaging, warehouse, refrigeration, sanitation, and facility operations by helping ensure that equipment and building systems remain safe, reliable, and operational. The Maintenance Technician responds to equipment issues, performs scheduled preventive maintenance, identifies developing mechanical problems, and works collaboratively with Operations, Sanitation, Safety, and management to minimize equipment downtime. Because Lusamerica operates in the seafood processing and distribution industry, the Maintenance Technician must be comfortable working in refrigerated, wet, production, warehouse, and food-processing environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on production, packaging, warehouse, and facility equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other equipment problems within the employee's training and qualifications. Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or adjustments to restore safe operation. Inspect machinery and equipment for wear, damage, leaks, unusual vibration, abnormal noise, or other indications of potential failure. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to established maintenance schedules. Assist with maintenance and repair of conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, belts, packaging equipment, dock equipment, and related systems. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and replacement of approved electrical components within the employee's qualifications and authorization. Assist with plumbing, lighting, doors, dock equipment, racking, building fixtures, and general facility repairs. Respond promptly to production equipment breakdowns and work with Operations to minimize downtime. Document completed repairs, preventive maintenance, parts used, equipment conditions, and follow-up requirements. Identify equipment requiring additional repair, outside service, or replacement and communicate recommendations to management. Requirements Proven experience as a service technician with a strong background in appliance repair, HVAC/R systems, refrigeration, or mechanical systems repair. Knowledge of schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic procedures related to HVAC & appliance technology. Demonstrated ability to perform appliance installation and kitchen equipment maintenance effectively. Mechanical knowledge with experience in maintaining complex mechanical systems across various settings. Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) practices within construction or industrial environments. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to operate construction tools and company vehicles safely while adhering to all safety protocols. Experience working with HVAC systems including air conditioning units and HVAC/R technology is highly desirable. Leadership qualities with the capability to coordinate tasks efficiently within a team setting. Maintain tools, maintenance equipment, spare parts, and assigned work areas in an organized and safe condition. Assist outside contractors and service technicians when authorized. Participate in equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and facility improvement projects. Follow established lockout/tagout (LOTO) and energy-control procedures before performing maintenance or repairs. Comply with Company safety, food-safety, sanitation, GMP, and security requirements. Immediately report unsafe equipment, hazardous conditions, damaged guards, electrical hazards, leaks, or other safety concerns. Coordinate maintenance work with Production and Sanitation to ensure equipment is properly released, serviced, cleaned, and returned to operation. Follow appropriate procedures when maintenance work could affect food-contact surfaces or food-production areas. Maintain accurate maintenance records as required. Participate in required safety meetings and training. Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Completing scheduled equipment inspections. Lubricating equipment according to manufacturer requirements. Inspecting and replacing belts, bearings, seals, filters, and other wear components. Checking motors, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and related equipment. Identifying developing equipment problems before failure occurs. Documenting preventive maintenance completion and outstanding repair needs. Recommending parts or supplies needed to maintain equipment reliability.

FOOD SAFETY AND SANITATION RESPONSIBILITIES
Because this position performs maintenance in a food-processing environment, the Maintenance Technician must comply with all applicable Company food-safety and sanitation procedures. The employee must take appropriate precautions to prevent tools, lubricants, metal fragments, chemicals, replacement parts, or other maintenance materials from contaminating products, equipment, or food-contact surfaces. Maintenance work performed in production areas must be coordinated with Operations and/or Sanitation before equipment is returned to production.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Technical school, trade-school, apprenticeship, industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, HVAC/refrigeration, or related technical training preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, food processing, warehousing, distribution, industrial facilities, or a comparable environment preferred. Experience troubleshooting production or packaging equipment strongly preferred. Food manufacturing or refrigerated-facility experience is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial equipment. Basic knowledge of electrical troubleshooting. Familiarity with motors, pumps, bearings, belts, conveyors, and related equipment. Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems preferred. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and maintenance equipment. Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams, maintenance instructions, and safety procedures. Ability to identify equipment problems and determine appropriate corrective action. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize emergency repairs while completing scheduled preventive maintenance. Ability to document maintenance activities accurately. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Warehouse, Sanitation, Safety, and management personnel. Dependable attendance and punctuality.
