In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of cable and network systems in residential and commercial settings. Your expertise in network installation, fiber splicing, and telecommunications cabling will ensure reliable connectivity for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, operate company vehicles, and utilize a wide range of hand and power tools to complete field service projects efficiently. Duties Install and troubleshoot telecommunications network cables, including Ethernet, fiber optic lines, and low voltage wiring in residential and commercial properties Perform fiber splicing with precision to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance Use hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wire cutters, and power tools to complete installations accurately Conduct equipment testing using ohmmeters and other testing devices to verify system integrity and troubleshoot issues Operate company vehicles safely while transporting tools, equipment, and materials to job sites Follow safety protocols for outdoor work environments, including ladder use and electrical safety procedures Document all work performed through detailed reports and logs to ensure quality control and compliance with company standards Qualifications Proven experience as a telecommunications infrastructure technician or similar field service role with a focus on cable installation Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet wiring, telephony systems, and Cisco networking equipment Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, electrical work, low voltage cabling, and equipment testing methods Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, ladders safely, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters Mechanical aptitude with understanding of telecommunication systems installation processes Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients Valid driver's license with clean driving record for operating company vehicles Outdoor work experience preferred; comfortable working at heights using ladders in various weather conditions Electrical experience or background in electrical work is highly desirable Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in troubleshooting network issues This contractor role is paid hourly or project-based—offering flexibility while ensuring your skills are valued.
