This is a paid, project-based opportunity with a potential path toward a long-term field operations partnership. There is no guaranteed full-time schedule during the initial stage. Each site survey, installation, service assignment, or complete project will be agreed upon separately based on scope, schedule, and availability. The ideal candidate is an experienced field technician, working foreman, independent contractor, or owner-operator of a small low-voltage company who can personally perform fieldwork while also leading additional technicians. Responsibilities Conduct site surveys and document existing field conditions Review drawings, scopes of work, cable schedules, and equipment requirements Estimate labor, materials, tools, access requirements, and installation timelines Plan and coordinate field execution Lead subcontracted technicians and monitor installation quality Install and terminate Cat6/Cat6A, fiber, AV, control, and other low-voltage cabling Install racks, patch panels, cable pathways, wireless access points, professional displays, cameras, AV equipment, and video wall components Perform labeling, cable management, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation Coordinate with SHIK systems' AV, Wi-Fi, network engineers, and remote programmers Identify differences between drawings and actual site conditions Complete punch-list items and support system commissioning and client handover Attend periodic project planning meetings at the SHIK systems office in Ridgewood, NJ Maintain a safe, organized, and professional worksite Required Qualifications At least 5 years of commercial low-voltage, structured cabling, AV installation, or network infrastructure experience Experience leading technicians or subcontractors Ability to conduct site surveys and independently evaluate installation requirements Strong hands-on experience with Cat6/Cat6A, racks, patch panels, terminations, labeling, and testing Ability to read floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, rack elevations, cable schedules, and technical documentation Basic understanding of Ethernet, PoE, IP addressing, VLANs, and network-connected devices Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Professional communication with clients, contractors, engineers, and project managers Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the NJ/NY Metro area Ability to attend periodic in-person meetings in Ridgewood, NJ Legal authorization to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Commercial AV installation or commissioning experience Wi-Fi access point deployment experience LCD or DVLED video wall installation experience Fiber termination and testing experience Fluke DSX or similar certification testing experience Familiarity with Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Planar, Absen, Unilumin, Samsung, LG, or similar manufacturers OSHA 10/30, lift certification, CTS/CTS-I, or BICSI credentials Own tools, test equipment, and commercial vehicle Ability to provide additional qualified technicians when required Ability to provide a W-9 and Certificate of Insurance Compensation and Partnership Opportunity Compensation may be structured as an hourly, daily, or fixed project rate depending on the assignment. Project location, scope, schedule, travel expenses, and compensation will be agreed upon before work begins. Following the successful completion of several projects, SHIK systems may consider expanding the relationship into a long-term field operations partnership. This may include priority access to future assignments, performance-based bonuses, project profit sharing, or a potential equity arrangement under a separate agreement.
