In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of telecommunications and data cabling systems. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and fiber optic networks across various client sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilize advanced diagnostic tools, and deliver exceptional customer service while building robust communication networks. Responsibilities Install and terminate structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring in commercial and industrial environments. Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and blueprints to accurately execute installations. Conduct fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of fiber optic systems. Set up and configure networking equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, switches, and telecommunication systems including VoIP solutions. Use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters, network testers, and telecommunication testing equipment to identify issues and perform repairs on cabling infrastructure. Perform equipment troubleshooting for computer hardware, network wiring problems, and telecommunication devices to minimize downtime. Maintain detailed documentation of installation processes, testing results, and repair activities for client records. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system performance and maintenance needs. Experience Proven experience in field service installation and maintenance of telecommunications or data cabling systems. Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN (Local Area Network), RF (Radio Frequency) testing, and network wiring standards. Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and fiber optic system installation. Familiarity with telecommunication systems such as Avaya or similar PBX (Private Branch Exchange) platforms. Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and electrical testing equipment safely and effectively. Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems relevant to telecommunications infrastructure is preferred. Experience working with structured cabling standards (e.g., Cat5e/6/6a), telephony systems (including cable termination), and low-voltage wiring practices. Strong technical proficiency with diagnostic tools for equipment repair and network troubleshooting. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
