PrideStaff is in URGENT need of an
EXPERIENCED
Diesel Mechanic in Vernon, AL Position Summary The Diesel Mechanic II is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced maintenance and repair on diesel-powered equipment and vehicles used in manufacturing operations. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and maintains compliance with safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines, forklifts, generators, and other manufacturing equipment. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Conduct inspections and testing of equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards. Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and fuel systems. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and parts inventory documentation. Assist in developing and executing preventive maintenance schedules. Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and support operational goals. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Mentor and support Diesel Mechanic I employees and apprentices as needed. Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform repairs in a timely manner. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred). 3-5 years of proven experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus. Valid driver's license; CDL may be preferred depending on organization needs. ASE Certification (or willingness to obtain) is highly preferred. Key Skills & Competencies- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

- Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs regularly
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions
- Ability to work around noise, vibration, and industrial machinery Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant or industrial facility setting
- Exposure to oils, lubricants, and diesel fuel
