Chesterton, IN 46304 What you'll be doing We're hiring immediately for a Mechanic III role in a fast-paced warehouse environment. We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on company tractors, trailers, and related shop equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on diesel mechanic experience, strong diagnostic abilities, welding and fabrication skills, and the ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced maintenance environment. Candidates must have at least 6 years of diesel mechanic experience and 2 years of MIG/TIG welding and fabrication experience.

Responsibilities may include:

Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel tractors and trailers. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems. Review work orders and coordinate repairs with supervisors and other mechanics. Communicate with drivers to understand vehicle concerns and determine necessary repairs. Inspect critical vehicle components, including: Brakes and brake systems Steering systems Belts and hoses Fuel systems Wheel bearings Electrical systems Cooling systems Hydraulic systems Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid changes, tune-ups, and preventive maintenance services. Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet manufacturer performance specifications. Disassemble components and inspect parts for wear using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other diagnostic tools. Perform general tractor and trailer repairs and adjustments according to manufacturer and company specifications. Perform MIG/TIG welding, minor fabrication, and related repairs as needed. Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic information. Diagnose and repair shop equipment as needed. Complete assigned work accurately and within established timelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. Assist with parts inventory when requested. Participate in company training programs, safety meetings, and other required functions. Assist with training and developing newer or less-experienced mechanics. Follow all shop procedures, maintenance requirements, and safety regulations. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned. More duties may be assigned upon hire. What you'll need High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 6 years of diesel mechanic experience. Minimum of 2 years of MIG and TIG welding/fabrication experience. Strong experience performing maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers. Experience diagnosing and repairing electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems. Ability to perform preventive maintenance, basic and advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and diagnostic tools. Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Must own and maintain an adequate set of personal hand tools. Must maintain an active and valid driver's license. Ability to periodically operate non-CDL commercial vehicles as required by the position. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred, but not required.
