Job Description

Diesel Rescue 24/7 is looking for a dependable and skilled Mobile Roadside Diesel Technician based in or near Lebanon, Indiana. This is not a traditional shop position. You will respond to commercial truck breakdowns throughout the Indianapolis-Lebanon-Lafayette corridor, diagnose problems in the field, and perform repairs necessary to get customers back on the road. We are not necessarily looking for a 15-year master technician. We are looking for someone with solid heavy-duty mechanical experience who can work independently, troubleshoot common roadside problems, communicate well, and—most importantly—be dependable. This position has strong earning potential, but it is not for everyone. Commercial roadside service includes nights, weekends, bad weather, and occasional middle-of-the-night calls. If you are scheduled/on-call and accept that responsibility, we expect you to be available when a customer needs us. Responsibilities Respond to mobile roadside service calls for Class 7-8 trucks and commercial vehicles Diagnose common mechanical and electrical problems Perform jump starts and battery replacements Diagnose and replace starters and alternators Repair air leaks, coolant leaks, hoses, belts and related components Replace brake chambers and perform common air-brake repairs Perform basic electrical diagnosis and repair Complete minor mechanical and preventive-maintenance repairs Communicate consistently with dispatch throughout service calls Provide accurate repair findings, documentation and photographs when required Maintain and properly care for company service vehicle, tools, equipment and inventory Keep the service vehicle clean, organized and ready for service Attend periodic company meetings, vehicle/equipment inspections and inventory checks, generally at our Northwest Indiana/Crown Point operations location Maintain a professional attitude with customers, dispatch and management What We're Looking For Heavy-duty diesel/truck repair experience; 2+ years preferred Experience working with Class 7-8 trucks strongly preferred Ability to independently handle common roadside repairs Basic mechanical and electrical diagnostic ability Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills Dependability and willingness to respond to overnight/after-hours calls Good communication and willingness to follow dispatch/check-in procedures Professional attitude and ability to work as part of a team Respect for company vehicles, tools and equipment Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Basic personal hand tools Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Compensation & Benefits We believe good technicians should be paid well. This position provides a guaranteed $1,200/week base salary plus commission and performance bonuses. A motivated technician who takes additional calls and performs well can earn significantly more, with potential annual compensation of $100,000+. Company service vehicle, fuel, stocked inventory, specialty equipment and 24/7 dispatch support are provided. Paid time off is available and will be discussed during the interview process. We treat our technicians professionally and expect professionalism in return. Reliability, communication and attitude matter just as much to us as mechanical experience. If you're a capable technician who wants responsibility, strong earning potential and an opportunity to grow with an expanding commercial roadside service company, we'd like to hear from you.
