JOB DESCRIPTION

Maintains heavy equipment, tractor-trailers and vehicles by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments and keeping records.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Must present a neat and professional appearance. Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. Perform daily pre-shift safety inspection and maintenance of equipment. Operate loader to load customer trucks, haul trucks, material bins, etc. Assist with plant maintenance. Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Must be qualified to do DOT inspections and have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with diesel engine experience At least 2 years of experience with the following diagnostic experience: diesel emissions aftertreatment systems, electrical, air conditioning, powertrain At least 2 years of experience with the following welding experience: stick welding, wire welding Must have the following certifications: brakes, air conditioning Must be able to read and understand English. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to successfully pass an extensive drug screening (includes urine, hair and breath alcohol testing). Must be willing to submit to a criminal background screening. Must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time, etc. Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime overs during the week, including after dark and/or weekends and holidays as dictated by operations. Must be able to follow instructions, take direction well and be able to adapt to changes in the operation. Must be a strong team player willing to help out wherever necessary and have a "can do" attitude. Must have a strong work ethic and be able to remain busy the entire day, looking for new tasks or where else to help when your tasks are completed. Must be able to work well in a high volume, fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience as a diesel engine mechanic with both tractor-trailers and heavy equipment At least 5 years of electrical diagnostic experience At least 5 years of air conditioning diagnostic experience At least 5 years of powertrain diagnostic experience At least 5 years of stick welding experience At least 5 years of wire welding experience Experience with PTO hydraulic systems and live walking floor trailers Experience with Kenworth, Peterbuilt, Ford and Sterling brand commercial vehicles
