The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and repairing diesel powered vehicles and machinery used in tire recycling operations and transportation. This role ensures that all equipment runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect and diagnose diesel engines, transmission, braking, steering, and exhaust systems for faults or wear
• Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, battery maintenance, and lubrication
• Repair or replace defective components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic/electrical systems
• Interpret diagnostic test results from computerized systems to determine repair needs
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment before dispatch
• Perform test drives to verify repairs and ensure safe operation
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules
• Follow OSHA and company safety protocols, keeping work areas clean and compliant
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure fleet readiness
• Assist in ordering and managing parts inventory as needed
