Waste Connections is seeking a 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of refuse trucks and heavy equipment supporting essential environmental services. In this safety-focused role, you will perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and braking components to keep our trucks operating reliably. Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on diesel trucks and related equipment during 2nd shift Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure fleet reliability Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and brake systems Document all work performed, parts used, and inspections in maintenance systems Follow all company, OSHA, and DOT safety standards and environmental procedures Collaborate with drivers and operations teams to prioritize repairs and reduce downtime Use shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and manuals to efficiently identify issues Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop work area on the 2nd shift Required Skills Diesel engine repair Hydraulic systems troubleshooting Pneumatic systems repair Preventive maintenance (PM) Brake and suspension systems Electrical diagnostics (12 V/24 V) Welding and fabrication basics Diagnostics using scan tools DOT and safety inspections Maintenance documentation
