Our team provides 24/7 towing, recovery, and roadside support with a fleet of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks, including specialized recovery equipment and rotators. We are looking for an experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician to join our team and help maintain the equipment that keeps our operations moving. This position is ideal for a skilled technician who enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working on unique heavy-duty equipment. Position Overview The Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Quantum's fleet of tow trucks, recovery vehicles, and related equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our trucks remain safe, reliable, and ready to respond when our customers need us. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain light-, medium-, and heavy-duty diesel trucks Perform preventative maintenance and fleet inspections Repair and troubleshoot diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrain, suspension, and brake systems Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, PTOs, winches, booms, outriggers, and recovery equipment Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and onboard electronics Perform DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety requirements Complete repairs, testing, and quality checks before vehicles return to service Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed Maintain accurate repair records and work orders Assist with occasional field repairs and emergency service needs Communicate with drivers, dispatch, and management regarding equipment needs and repair priorities Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or equipment technician Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Experience working on diesel engines and commercial vehicles Knowledge of hydraulic systems, air brakes, electrical systems, and suspension components Experience using diagnostic tools and repair software Welding and fabrication experience preferred CDL is a plus (or willingness to obtain) Ability to work independently while maintaining safe, high-quality workmanship Work Environment This position works primarily in a shop environment with occasional outdoor and field service repairs.
