Pay Range:
$28-$40 per hour Job Overview We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles and equipment, with a strong emphasis on diesel engines. The ideal candidate will bring extensive mechanical expertise, hands-on experience with heavy-duty vehicles, and a commitment to safety and performance excellence. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on gas and diesel-powered vehicles, with a focus on diesel engines such as Cummins ISB through X12 and Detroit DD13. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles including MCI and International buses, Volvo S90s, GMC Yukons, and Ford E-Series (E350-F550) vehicles. Interpret and utilize schematics to perform complex repairs and system modifications. Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspensions, HVAC systems, and other components. Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed. Maintain detailed records of all services and repairs performed. Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and staff regarding diagnostics, repair status, and equipment needs. Operate vehicles and equipment safely, adhering to all safety protocols. Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure fleet readiness. Operate and maintain a mobile service vehicle when required. Required Skills & Qualifications Proven experience in heavy duty vehicle maintenance and repair. Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and repair techniques. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals. Familiarity with automotive and or bus systems including brakes, alignments, shocks, struts, and tires. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Ability to lift heavy components and perform physically demanding tasks. Electrical troubleshooting experience is beneficial. Previous dealership or service technician experience preferred but not required. Ability to obtain a company trained / tested CDL.
