Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Primary Purpose:
Performs a variety of manual and machine assisted labor tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the City of Lampasas water and wastewater infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions:
Install, repair, and maintain infrastructure associated with the distribution of drinking water; Install, repair, and maintain infrastructure associated with the collection of sewage; Operates medium to heavy duty equipment required to maintain/install underground utilities; Performs scheduled maintenance on assigned equipment and reports malfunctions or failures immediately to crew leader; Maintains on-call status; and Performs other duties as directed or assigned.
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the safe operation of motorized equipment as it relates to the Texas Motor Vehicle Code; and Ability to understand and follow instructions, learn standard operation of equipment, make minor repairs to water/wastewater system.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; Ability to obtain a TCEQ Water Distribution License Class C within 3 years; Ability to obtain a TCEQ Wastewater Collection License Class II within 3 years; Ability to obtain a valid Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B within the first 12 months of employment; Ability to obtain Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A.
Working Conditions:
Works outdoors in varied weather conditions. Work may be performed in rough terrain. Work schedule shall include evening, weekends, and holiday hours. Sitting, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting required. Will be subject to random drug screening.
