Job Description

Handyman -
Commercial Industrial Working Hours:
Typical work hours are typically 40 hours per week. Work schedule is Monday through Friday. Essential Function(s) of the
Position:
Must be able to perform some of the following Perform a variety of maintenance, construction and demolition tasks at non-residential commercial industrial properties owned and managed by Avis Management. Fix minor equipment and property issues, and work with the Property Manager to acquire proper assistance as needed Answer work orders as prioritized and directed by the Property Manager. Perform general property tasks as needed, including but not limited to: Carpentry, Painting, Electrical, Bathroom and kitchen plumbing maintenance, Snow and ice removal, Small construction projects, Small electrical tasks (changing outlets, changing light fixtures/ballasts, etc.), Light drywall repair and patching, Hanging signage, Basic door, hinge, and lock replacement, Overhead door maintenance, Light landscaping, Small engine repair Meet other contractors and oversee their work as directed. This position uses a company vehicle during work shifts to travel to all buildings owned by the company and utilizes a collection of company owned equipment and tools.
Required Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates:
High School diploma or equivalent At least 5 years of commercial/industrial building and property maintenance. Valid Michigan Driver's License and clean driving record Basic knowledge of HVAC is preferred but not required
Required Skills and Abilities:
Must be neat and orderly Must be mechanically inclined Must have ability to follow directions and efficiently work alone for long stretches of time Must exhibit good communication with tenants and contractors Must be productive, courteous, flexible, resourceful, and creative, with effective people skills Equipment, Machinery, Tool Operation Drive a company truck Trailer towing Operate a floor scrubber Operate a scissors lift Properly use electrical tools and landscaping equipment Properly use cleaning and maintenance supplies
Physical Demands:
This position requires the employee to work on their feet for the majority of an 8-hour shift. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb a ladder, squat, and bend over.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to heat/cold when field time is required. Must be able to work in conditions that may be dirty and/or dusty for length of shift.
Reporting Relationships:
A person in this position will work under the Avis Management Property Manager.
Background Screen Policy:
Avis Management's hiring policy requires all prospective employees to participate in a pre- employment drug screen and agree to standard driving and criminal background checks. Employment is contingent upon candidate test results.

$22.00 - $30.00 per hour
