Duties Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on underground mining equipment including excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and drills. Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics, and hydraulic system analysis to identify root causes efficiently. Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly work to repair or modify equipment components as needed. Maintain detailed service records and logs of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and safety standards. Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and excavators safely during maintenance procedures. Diagnose diesel engine problems including transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC units, and electrical systems. Ensure all work complies with safety protocols related to underground mining operations and equipment handling. Requirements Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic with a focus on construction machinery servicing or industrial equipment repair. Dealership experience or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) training is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and schematics interpretation. Skilled in welding, fabrication, use of hand tools, power tools, and soldering techniques for equipment repair. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate machinery such as excavators or cranes during maintenance tasks. Familiarity with construction machinery maintenance standards including tire service, brake repair, alignment, suspension work, and HVAC systems. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and automotive diagnostics. Valid certifications in electrical experience, diesel mechanics, air brake systems, or related fields are preferred. Ability to work in confined underground environments while adhering to safety regulations.
