Solar Service Technician - 1099 Independent Contractor EZ Solar & Roofing San Diego, CA Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Full-time From $30 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Technical documentation Renewable energy systems Driver's License Energy storage systems Service technician experience Full Job Description Solar Service Technician - 1099 Independent Contractor EZ Solar & Electric is seeking an experienced Solar Service Technician to join our service team as a 1099 Independent Contractor . This is a field-based position focused primarily on troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential solar PV and battery systems throughout San Diego County and surrounding areas. Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot residential solar PV systems. Troubleshoot inverter, optimizer, microinverter, gateway, and communication issues. Perform inverter, optimizer, microinverter, gateway, and related equipment replacements. Troubleshoot solar monitoring and communication failures. Assist with battery and energy-storage system troubleshooting. Perform electrical testing and identify system performance issues. Communicate with manufacturers when technical support or warranty/RMA assistance is required. Document service visits with detailed notes, photos, readings, and recommendations. Communicate findings clearly with the office/service department. Complete service calls efficiently and professionally. Perform work on rooftops and around electrical equipment while following applicable safety procedures. Equipment Experience Preferred Experience working with one or more of the following is highly preferred: SolarEdge Enphase FranklinWH Canadian Solar EP Cube Tesla Generac Other residential solar and battery systems Qualifications Previous solar installation, service, or troubleshooting experience required. Strong understanding of residential solar PV systems and electrical troubleshooting. Ability to diagnose system faults independently in the field. Experience using manufacturer monitoring portals and troubleshooting tools. Comfortable working on roofs and around electrical equipment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Good communication and documentation skills. Professional and dependable when interacting with homeowners. Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area. Electrical and/or solar certifications are a plus. Position Type Independent Contractor (1099) Consistent service work available. Compensation will be discussed based on experience, qualifications, and scope of work. We are looking for someone dependable who can independently diagnose problems, communicate findings clearly, and help us complete solar service calls from initial troubleshooting through final repair.
