Fitzgerald Equipment Company is seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Shop Technician to join our team at our Mackinaw, Illinois location . This is an in-house shop position responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining forklifts and other material handling equipment. We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, takes pride in quality repairs, and works well as part of a service team. Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain material handling equipment in our Mackinaw shop Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and equipment inspections Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and related equipment issues Complete repairs accurately and efficiently Inspect equipment and identify additional repair or maintenance needs Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper and safe operation Complete service documentation and repair records accurately Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Properly use and maintain tools and shop equipment Work closely with Service, Parts, and other departments to complete repairs efficiently Follow all company safety policies and procedures Equipment May Include Forklifts and lift trucks Electric and internal-combustion equipment Aerial and scissor lifts Floor sweepers and scrubbers Pallet jacks Industrial carts and personnel carriers Other material handling equipment Qualifications Previous mechanical or equipment repair experience preferred Experience with forklifts, heavy equipment, automotive, agricultural, diesel, or industrial equipment is a plus Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems preferred Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Dependable with a strong work ethic High school diploma or equivalent Ability to safely lift 50 pounds or more Willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification programs Candidates with experience in automotive, diesel, agricultural, construction, or heavy-equipment repair are encouraged to apply.
