At Orchard Hill Landfill, reliable equipment is essential to keeping our operation running safely and efficiently. We're looking for an experienced Master Technician who takes pride in solving complex problems, completing repairs the right way, and keeping heavy equipment ready for the job. As a Master Technician, you'll diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of landfill and heavy construction equipment, including compactors, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and more. You'll handle everything from preventative maintenance to complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and computer-controlled system repairs while working closely with operations to minimize downtime and keep equipment performing safely and reliably. What You'll Do Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on landfill and heavy construction equipment. Service and repair a variety of heavy equipment, including compactors, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and other equipment used in landfill operations. Troubleshoot computer-controlled systems using diagnostic software, testing equipment, and other appropriate tools. Inspect equipment to identify mechanical issues, wear, damage, and potential safety concerns. Take ownership of difficult, complex, and high-priority repairs and follow them through to completion. Work closely with operations to prioritize repairs based on safety, operational needs, and equipment availability. Perform preventative maintenance and help maintain preventative maintenance schedules. Identify developing equipment problems and recommend repairs or maintenance before failures occur. Test equipment following repairs to verify proper operation and ensure it is safe to return to service. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and parts as required. Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and anticipated downtime to supervisors and operations personnel. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition. What You Need Minimum of 5 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment. Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Experience troubleshooting computer-controlled equipment systems using diagnostic software and testing equipment. Ability to independently diagnose equipment problems and perform complex repairs. Ability to read and understand service information, schematics, diagrams, and manufacturer specifications. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to safely work around heavy equipment, moving vehicles, truck traffic, and active industrial operations. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in company testing programs as applicable. Preferred Experience repairing landfill equipment, including compactors, dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, or similar heavy equipment. Previous experience in landfill, heavy construction, excavation, aggregate, or a related industrial environment. Experience working on multiple brands and types of heavy equipment. Advanced experience with hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostic systems. Technical training or certification in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or a related field. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other equipment required to perform repairs.
