Duties Assist with the installation of HVAC equipment including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and ventilation components following schematics and technical specifications Support the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance through troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues Use hand tools, ohmmeters, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to diagnose and repair equipment problems efficiently Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC system blueprints to facilitate accurate repairs and installations Perform routine inspections of mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing connections, and building automation controls to identify potential issues before they escalate Aid in the repair of HVAC/R (refrigeration) systems including ammonia refrigeration units and air conditioning systems Assist with electrical diagnostics related to HVAC system controls and electrical systems to ensure safe operation Support field service activities by preparing work sites, handling equipment repairs on-site, and ensuring compliance with safety standards Contribute to property maintenance tasks related to HVAC equipment to ensure buildings remain comfortable and energy-efficient Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including service reports, inspection logs, and equipment maintenance records Qualifications Construction experience or hands-on mechanical work background preferred but not required; a strong interest in building systems is essential Prior service technician experience or exposure to HVAC or appliance repair is a plus Basic understanding of schematics, blueprints, or technical diagrams related to HVAC or electrical systems Mechanical knowledge including familiarity with plumbing, welding, or boiler operation is advantageous Experience with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, ohmmeters, and welding equipment preferred Knowledge of HVAC design principles and building automation systems is beneficial but trainable on the job Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues using electrical diagnostics and system troubleshooting techniques Valid driver's license with clean driving record; van driver experience is a plus for field service roles EPA certification or willingness to obtain certification for refrigerant handling required for some positions Strong customer service skills with a proactive attitude towards safety and quality workmanship Willingness to learn new skills related to HVAC/R technology including ammonia refrigeration or electrical diagnostics Embark on an exciting journey in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry!
