This position supports campus-wide Facilities Services by assisting with the maintenance, operation, repair, and installation of HVAC and related building systems. The HVAC Technician I is an entry-level HVAC position requiring basic technical knowledge and hands-on experience. The technician will perform routine HVAC maintenance and repair functions under direct supervision while supporting the department's mission to provide proactive, professional, cost-effective, and customer-focused facilities services. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance, operation, repair, and installation of heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment throughout campus facilities. Assist with the maintenance and operation of PTAC units, heat pumps, air handling units, low-pressure steam systems, hot water boilers, closed-loop systems, refrigeration equipment, chillers, and ventilation/exhaust systems. Assist with DDC and pneumatic control systems. Perform routine maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial kitchen equipment. Respond to routine service requests and emergency repair calls. Troubleshoot basic HVAC and mechanical equipment issues under appropriate supervision. Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment required to complete assigned work. Follow applicable building codes, safety standards, regulations, and departmental procedures. Apply basic knowledge of construction and remodeling practices, materials, tools, equipment, specifications, and quality standards. Organize and prioritize assigned work to complete maintenance activities efficiently. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment. Work collaboratively with other Facilities Services teams to support campus-wide maintenance needs. Qualifications Associate degree in HVAC or a related technical field, two years of trade school training, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of one year of HVAC Technician experience. Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, tools, maintenance practices, and safety procedures. Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic controls preferred. Ability to safely operate HVAC-related hand and power tools. Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and HVAC issues. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to respond professionally to routine and emergency service requests. Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.

Salary:
