Job Description
Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Commercial & Industrial HVAC Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong field experience servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining large tonnage commercial and industrial HVAC systems, with significant experience working on chillers and associated mechanical systems. This position is suited for a hands-on technician who can independently diagnose complex HVAC problems, communicate effectively with customers and management, and take ownership of service calls from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. Troubleshoot and service large tonnage chillers, including associated pumps, cooling towers, condenser systems, and controls. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, startups, and system commissioning. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control-system issues. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, leak detection, and system repairs. Troubleshoot compressors, motors, VFDs, pumps, valves, sensors, and control systems. Work with building automation and HVAC control systems when applicable. Document service work, equipment conditions, repairs performed, and recommended follow-up work. Communicate professionally with customers, facility managers, engineers, and other trades. Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following all applicable safety procedures. Participate in emergency and after-hours service as needed. Qualifications 10+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC service experience preferred. Strong experience with large tonnage chillers is highly preferred. Solid understanding of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Ability to diagnose problems independently and determine the appropriate repair. Experience with centrifugal, screw, scroll, or reciprocating chillers Experience with chilled-water systems, cooling towers, pumps, and hydronic systems Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. EPA 608 certification required or preferred. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a career HVAC service technician, not someone limited to residential/light commercial work. We are especially interested in technicians who have extensive experience troubleshooting large commercial and industrial chiller systems and are comfortable working on complex mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration equipment. A person that has the ability to effectively schedule, coordinate, and execute projects in the field.
