$28.00-$50.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, plus opportunities for prevailing wage/rate work Automatic Temperature Controls, Inc. is looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our service department. This position is for a technician who already has strong commercial HVAC experience and holds a Rhode Island RJ1 Refrigeration Journeyperson I license or PJ1 Pipefitter Journeyperson I license . We are looking for someone who can troubleshoot equipment, diagnose problems, make repairs, perform maintenance, and work independently in the field. This is not an entry-level HVAC position. ATC works throughout Rhode Island on commercial, municipal, school, and state facilities. Our technicians work on a wide range of equipment and service calls rather than performing the same type of work every day. What You'll Be Doing Troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC equipment Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control-related problems Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service Service rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, boilers, pumps, and related HVAC equipment Work with refrigeration systems and associated components Replace motors, compressors, controls, valves, pumps, and other HVAC components Identify problems and recommend appropriate repairs Complete service calls at commercial and institutional facilities Communicate clearly with customers, office staff, and other technicians Document work performed and materials used Work with our Controls/BAS department when equipment or system issues involve building controls Participate in the on-call rotation Perform overtime when required License Requirements Applicants must hold at least one of the following Rhode Island licenses: RJ1 - Refrigeration Journeyperson I PJ1 - Pipefitter Journeyperson I Applicants with an SMJ1 license are welcome to apply if they also have the commercial service background we are looking for, but this opening is specifically intended for an experienced HVAC service technician. EPA Universal Certification is strongly preferred. What We Are Looking For The right technician should have solid commercial service experience and be comfortable diagnosing problems rather than simply replacing parts. We are particularly interested in technicians who have experience with: Commercial HVAC troubleshooting Refrigeration Electrical troubleshooting Rooftop equipment Air handlers Split systems Boilers and hydronic systems Pumps and motors Preventative maintenance Commercial service calls Building automation or DDC controls exposure You do not need to know every piece of equipment we work on. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who can troubleshoot, learn, and work well with the rest of our service team.

Pay Regular hourly rate:

$28.00-$35.00 per hour , depending on license, experience, and overall qualifications. ATC also performs a significant amount of prevailing wage/rate work for state, municipal, school, and other public projects. Technicians assigned to qualifying rate work are paid the applicable rate for that project. Prevailing wage work is not guaranteed and will vary based on the projects and service work available.
