Full-Time, Non-Exempt Job Summary As an HVAC Service Technician for Southern MEP, Inc., you will be responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and equipment. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction. Duties/Responsibilities Respond to service calls and diagnose HVAC system issues in a timely and professional manner. Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services on HVAC equipment and systems in accordance with service agreements. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of direct expansion (DX) and refrigeration cycles. Test HVAC systems and components to ensure proper operation and performance. Replace defective components, parts, controls, motors, belts, and other HVAC equipment as needed. Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications. Complete service reports, work orders, inspection forms, and other required documentation accurately and timely. Communicate system diagnoses, repair recommendations, and maintenance needs clearly and professionally to customers. Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment in an organized and safe manner. Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Demonstrate safe work practices and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician. Possess a valid EPA Universal Certification. Ability to diagnose and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical components, controls, and mechanical systems. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment, test meters, and hand and power tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly explain diagnoses and repair recommendations to customers with professionalism and confidence. Proficiency with computers, tablets, and mobile service applications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong teamwork and customer service skills. Must maintain a clean and professional appearance. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain OSHA 10 Certification if not currently certified. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance. Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment. Ability to perform work at heights and on rooftops.
