• Job Description
• The Hospital HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and specialized medical air systems throughout a healthcare facility.

This role ensures that critical areas such as operating rooms, isolation rooms, ICUs, laboratories, pharmacies, and patient care spaces consistently meet precise temperature, humidity, pressurization, and air-quality standards that are essential for patient safety and regulatory compliance.

• Responsibilities
• + Install, inspect, and test HVAC systems, including furnaces, air handlers, compressors, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation units, refrigeration equipment, and specialized medical air systems.

+ Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems that support critical hospital environments, including operating rooms, isolation rooms, ICUs, laboratories, and pharmacy areas.

+ Work on rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, condensers, air handlers, and exhaust systems to ensure reliable operation.

+ Monitor and adjust building automation systems to maintain required temperature, humidity, and pressurization levels for patient safety.

+ Perform preventive maintenance on chillers, boilers, air handlers, exhaust systems, rooftop units, and medical air systems, including cleaning coils, replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels, and calibrating controls.

+ Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and perform necessary repairs in a timely and safe manner.

+ Respond quickly to service calls in patient care and clinical areas, minimizing disruption to hospital operations.

+ Ensure all HVAC work meets healthcare regulatory standards, including applicable Joint Commission, ASHRAE, and infection-control requirements, as well as local, state, and federal HVAC codes and safety standards.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications to plan and complete installations and repairs.

+ Document all work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, parts used, labor time, and system performance, in accordance with facility procedures.

+ Communicate clearly with internal customers and stakeholders about system issues, repair options, and maintenance recommendations.

+ Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and assigned vehicles in clean, safe, and reliable working condition.

+ Respond to emergency service calls as needed, including urgent issues affecting critical hospital environments.

+ Collaborate with team members, contractors, and supervisors to plan work, coordinate shutdowns, and complete projects on schedule.

• Essential Skills
• + Proven experience as an HVAC Technician or in a similar role working with HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems.

+ Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including air handlers, compressors, chillers, boilers, rooftop units, condensers, and refrigeration systems.

+ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

+ Proficiency with building automation systems to monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, and pressurization.

+ Experience performing preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including cleaning coils, replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels, and calibrating controls.

+ Strong knowledge of electrical components and refrigeration cycles as they relate to HVAC systems.

+ Ability to use diagnostic tools, gauges, meters, and standard hand and power tools safely and effectively.

+ EPA Section 608 Certification (Type I, II, or Universal).

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

+ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in time-sensitive environments.

+ Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a busy facility setting.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.

+ Commitment to following local, state, and federal HVAC codes and safety standards, as well as healthcare regulatory requirements.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• + Completion of a technical school program or formal HVAC training is preferred.

+ Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment with critical spaces such as operating rooms, isolation rooms, ICUs, labs, and pharmacies.

+ Familiarity with Joint Commission, ASHRAE, and infection-control standards as they relate to HVAC systems.

+ Experience with installation of HVAC systems, including furnaces, ventilation units, rooftop units, and refrigeration equipment.

+ Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clinical staff, maintenance teams, and contractors.

+ Strong attention to detail when documenting work performed and system performance.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment while also taking ownership of individual assignments.

• Work Environment
• This position is based in a hospital environment, working primarily on-site throughout patient care areas, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and support spaces.

The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional emergency call responses as needed. You will work around active clinical operations, which requires attention to cleanliness, noise control, and infection-control practices. The role involves regular use of HVAC diagnostic tools, gauges, meters, hand and power tools, and interaction with building automation systems. Work conditions can include exposure to hot and cold mechanical spaces, outdoor rooftop work, and confined equipment areas, with appropriate safety equipment and attire required.

• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bedford, TX.
• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $30.

00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
