Duties Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings to diagnose issues accurately. Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems using tools such as ohmmeters to identify faults efficiently. Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) equipment to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency. Repair mechanical systems by replacing worn parts, adjusting components, and ensuring proper operation of HVAC system components. Service plumbing connections related to HVAC systems and refrigerant lines while adhering to EPA standards for refrigerant handling. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system issues, repair timelines, and maintenance recommendations. Use hand tools and specialized equipment to troubleshoot equipment problems swiftly and effectively. Assist with HVAC system design considerations for new installations or upgrades based on client needs. Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, parts used, and system diagnostics for accountability and future reference. Skills Construction experience combined with hands-on service technician expertise in HVAC systems. Strong understanding of schematics, blueprints, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings. Proficiency in HVAC design principles along with practical knowledge of mechanical systems repair. Experience with HVAC system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across various equipment types including refrigeration units and boilers. Knowledge of electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; ability to interpret electrical system data accurately. Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) for controlling HVAC operations efficiently. Ability to work safely with refrigerants such as ammonia refrigeration while complying with EPA regulations; valid EPA certification required. Mechanical knowledge of plumbing connections related to HVAC/R systems; experience with equipment troubleshooting is essential. Skilled in the use of hand tools necessary for precise repairs and installations in complex mechanical environments. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Valid driver's license (including driver if applicable) for travel between job sites; reliable transportation is essential.
