!! National Gypsum Company, a manufacturer of gypsum wallboard, is seeking a 1st Shift experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at their Waukegan, IL wallboard plant. The person we are seeking must have worked in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 3 years experience in equipment maintenance (mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic), fabrication (welding and machining), and general facility installation and repair. In addition, a work history that includes belt conveyors, screw conveyors, air compressors, pumps, burners, blowers, and a preventive maintenance program is required as these systems are critical components of our process. A good working knowledge of electrical systems is also highly desired. A passing score on a pre-employment assessment test is required. Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks.
- Assess building systems
- Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed safely, effectively, and promptly.
- Assists team members with technical issues or advance problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Able to work the occasional off-hour and weekend shift to support plant outages and unplanned events.
Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of Industrial maintenance operations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues and to determine repairs that are needed.
- Ability to use CMMS system to track and record work performed and parts used.
Experience:
- At least Three years of industrial maintenance experience required.
- Vocational training in Welding including Arc, Stick, Mig, Tig, and oxygen/acetylene cutting.
- Proficient machining and fabrication skills preferred.
