Position Summary The Coil Technician A is responsible for fabricating, assembling, testing, and repairing electrical coils and furnace components used in industrial equipment and power systems. This position performs coil winding, brazing, mechanical assembly, insulation, and hydraulic integration while ensuring all work meets engineering specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint-reading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with custom-engineered components in a manufacturing environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Set up and operate coil winding equipment according to engineering specifications and production requirements. Select, measure, and prepare copper tubing, wire, molds, fixtures, insulation, and other fabrication materials. Fabricate and assemble custom electrical coils using brazing, insulation, taping, varnishing, and finishing techniques. Mill copper ends and braze taps, conductors, and connections according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, schematics, and engineering drawings. Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and product quality. Assemble, test, and inspect electrical coils and furnace-related components. Perform grouting, de-grouting, and regrouting of coils and furnace assemblies. Install hydraulic tubing, cylinders, hoses, fittings, and related components according to specifications. Cut, crimp, solder, and leak-test water-cooled cables, hoses, and assemblies. Perform hydraulic and water-pressure testing to verify system functionality and integrity. Identify and troubleshoot basic assembly, fit-up, and equipment issues. Assist with occasional off-site service, installation, or repair activities as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures. Perform additional manufacturing and assembly duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical assembly, or electromechanical assembly. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, bills of materials, and engineering drawings. Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and engineering specifications. Ability to operate or become certified to operate a forklift. Preferred Qualifications Experience with brazing, coil winding, electrical assembly, or metal fabrication. Experience working with hydraulic systems, water-cooled components, tubing, or hoses. Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment. Previous experience working with custom or engineered-to-order assemblies. #
