Job Description
The Village of Metamora is seeking a self-motivated individual to operate and maintain municipal streets, parking lots, parks, buildings, and grounds. This position requires a dependable team member who can perform a variety of public works tasks to support safe, clean, and functional village facilities and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain village streets, pothole repair, sweeping, storm drain cleaning and routine maintenance. Maintain and repair parking lots and related signage. Upkeep of parks and recreational areas, including mowing, trimming, trash removal, and equipment maintenance. Perform general building and grounds maintenance for village-owned properties, such as minor repairs, painting, and custodial duties and snow removal Assist with special projects, seasonal tasks and event preparations as directed by the Village President or Clerk. Possibly serve in an on-call capacity to respond to public works emergencies outside of normal business hours when required. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Valid Michigan driver's license. Resident within 15 miles of the Village of Metamora. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Willingness to respond to emergency call-outs outside normal business hours. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in municipal maintenance, landscaping, or related public works responsibilities. Equipment operation experience (e.g., lawn mowers, snow plows, trucks and light construction equipment). Basic mechanical and carpentry skills. Employment Details Qualified candidates may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. Starting wage is $16.00- $17.00 per hour (negotiable). The Village may offer a benefits package which could include paid time off and health insurance, depending on eligibility and hiring terms.
