About the Position Little Sisters of the Poor is seeking a Skilled Maintenance Assistant to help maintain a safe, functional, sanitary, and comfortable environment for our Residents. This position performs preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment checks, and general facility maintenance while supporting the mission and standards of the Home. What You'll Do Perform routine and preventative maintenance throughout the facility. Complete small repairs and respond to emergency maintenance calls. Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems . Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual safety and life-safety checks. Maintain equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. Complete maintenance work orders efficiently and with attention to quality. Assist with facility equipment, kitchen, medical, housekeeping, and life-safety systems. Maintain exterior areas, including cleaning, repairing, salting walkways, and snow removal. Operate the power plant (generator) when the Facilities Manager is unavailable. Assist with moving equipment and handling incoming/outgoing freight. Drive locally when needed to pick up mail, parts, donations, and other items. Work cooperatively with Residents, staff, and other departments. Follow all applicable safety procedures, regulations, and facility policies. What We're Looking For Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience . High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience with HVAC, electrical systems, and plumbing . Knowledge of facility and building equipment. EPA certification preferred. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling. The employee must be able to frequently move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move heavier equipment. Schedule Full-time position with flexible hours based on the maintenance needs of the Home. Occasional extended hours may be required.
