The Job Description General Statement of DutiesPerforms intermediate skilled maintenance and repair work at park facilities and related facilities. Distinguishing Features of the ClassAn employee in this class performs maintenance activities at park facilities throughout the County. Work includes maintaining and repairing parks, ball fields, playground equipment, buildings and facilities. This includes repairing tables, grills, and sinks; cleaning restrooms and mowing. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Parks Maintenance Foreman and is evaluated through periodic discussions, observation and quality of work performed.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Tasks

• Repairs and maintains park equipment and buildings.
• Performs plumbing, masonry, carpentry and minor electrical work.
• Collects trash and garbage and disposes of same.
• Mows grass, trims shrubbery and trees.
• Operates trucks and tractors in grounds preparation and maintenance work.
• Performs custodial duties at all parks and recreation facilities; answers patrons' questions; assists in setting facility up for usage as required.
• Performs minor building, custodial, repair and maintenance work.
• Services and maintains light automotive equipment.

Physical Requirements

Desirable Education and ExperienceGraduation from high school and considerable experience in skilled trades and building and grounds maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special RequirementsPossession of a valid North Carolina driver's license upon hire. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays when required.
