Major Duties and Responsibilities :
Duties include but not limited to: Perform semi-skilled tasks in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry and other trades. Assist teachers with classroom needs such as furniture for new students, desk and chair height, assemble classroom furniture. Sweep, scrub, mop, strip and wax floors; vacuum rugs and carpets, shampoo carpets. Dust and polish furniture and woodwork; clean whiteboards and trays; empty pencil sharpeners Empty and clean waste receptacles; refill dispensers with appropriate soap and paper products Clean, scrub and disinfect restrooms, showers and related areas; wash windows, walls, tables and benches; polish metal work, clean sinks, mirrors and other bathroom fixtures. Maintain custodial equipment and materials; maintain various classroom and restroom supplies, including paper towels, soap and related items. Clean cafeteria and kitchen after lunch, pick up and put down tables as needed for sports events and practices. Deliver water bottles to water coolers, take paper boxes to copiers. Assure security of building and grounds during assigned times; lower flags; lock and unlock doors and gates. Pick up paper and other debris from the building and grounds. Empty outdoor trashcans. Report damage or unsafe conditions to assigned supervisor. Adjust and arrange furniture and equipment; set up facilities for special events and meetings as assigned Perform cleaning, oiling and minor adjusting tasks involving power, heat, refrigeration and sewage disposal units and other equipment Accept product deliveries Make repairs to furniture and other equipment within the scope of skill Shovel snow and operate snow blowing equipment, sand and salt as directed Operate power tools and janitorial power equipment as required Perform work in preventative maintenance of equipment needed for care of grounds. Perform other duties and functions, within the classification of Custodian, as assigned by the Administration or Chief of Maintenance Reports to : Reports directly to the
