This role works under the direction of a Supervisory Interior Designer but is expected to independently plan and execute equipment planning tasks — from specification and budgeting through procurement, delivery, and installation. This is a technical, high-responsibility role suited for a planner who understands the integration of medical equipment with facility infrastructure, and who is comfortable coordinating across clinical, engineering, and IT stakeholders in a hospital construction environment. What You'll Do Independently plan and execute equipment planning services across a range of clinical and support spaces — conference rooms, patient care and treatment rooms, waiting rooms, lobbies, break rooms, clean/soiled utility rooms, medication rooms, and storage areas Analyze architectural drawings, equipment schedules, and electrical/data plans to identify overlaps or gaps between proposed equipment and designed spaces Conduct existing equipment inventory audits, value-cost analyses, and comparative equipment studies; produce reuse analysis reports aligned with VA guidelines Coordinate the integration of medical equipment with associated infrastructure technology, including audiovisual, security, acoustics, and IT systems Plan, document, and schedule the relocation of existing equipment alongside procurement and installation of new equipment Administer equipment planning budgets, standards, and specifications for major construction projects Review preplanning and activation documentation for completeness, accuracy, and coordination with architectural drawings and installation plans Serve as technical representative for equipment specification matters, coordinating with electrical, low voltage, architecture, mechanical, and structural engineering disciplines Maintain functional knowledge of relevant safety codes and standards (TJC, NFPA, FDA, NRC, AAMI) and ensure alignment with VA's Technical Information Library (TIL) Produce procurement packages per VA/GSA standards, including SOWs, technical specifications, cost estimates, bid sheets, and budgets Manage financials related to equipment procurement and coordinate with vendors on delivery and installation schedules Maintain a digital resource library of drawings, plans, specifications, and project correspondence Provide training to medical technology end users and clinical staff during move-in Coordinate with VA Biomedical Department and Logistics to ensure equipment is properly documented, tagged, and entered into the Equipment Information Library Identify equipment and design conflicts early to avoid costly construction delays Coordinate with the activations team and stakeholders, including

Facilities Management, OIT, Patient Safety, Sterile Processing, Logistics, Contracting, Informatics, EMS, and Biomedical Technicians What You Bring Required:

Current knowledge of medical technology, including scientific advances, network protocols, and vendor developments Ability to write equipment specifications and Statements of Work for medical equipment procurement Ability to review and interpret blueprints and specifications Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, management officials, and Contracting Officers Education & Experience (at least one required): Bachelor's degree, or 8-10 years of medical equipment planning experience in a healthcare/hospital construction environment Healthcare experience is required regardless of which path above is met

Preferred:

AutoCAD proficiency Microsoft Project experience Work Environment This role is based on-site at a VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) medical facility and requires close coordination with clinical staff, engineers, architects, biomedical technicians, and vendors throughout the equipment planning and activation lifecycle.
