Full-Time Position Overview A well-established infrastructure organization in the Fargo-Moorhead area is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Inspector/Maintainer to support the inspection, maintenance, and long-term operation of a large-scale regional infrastructure project. This position will perform field inspections, identify maintenance needs, coordinate repairs, document findings, and provide oversight to contractors completing maintenance and renewal work. The ideal candidate will have a broad background in construction, infrastructure maintenance, public works, field inspection, or a related hands-on environment. Key Responsibilities Perform daily observations and inspections of infrastructure, facilities, equipment, roads, drainage systems, and related assets. Document inspections using mobile handheld devices and electronic reporting systems. Identify deficiencies, maintenance concerns, and potential safety issues. Report significant findings to management and assist with determining appropriate corrective action. Prepare and track work orders for maintenance and repair needs. Coordinate and provide oversight to local contractors and specialists performing maintenance and renewal work. Support engineers and technical professionals during inspections, repairs, and maintenance projects. Assist with the continued development and improvement of quality-management procedures. Communicate professionally with landowners, contractors, utility providers, stakeholders, and members of the public. Assist with access coordination for utilities and other authorized parties. Participate in flood-response and emergency-related activities as needed. Assist with activities such as water pumping, sandbagging, temporary flood-control systems, and other flood-response procedures. Support day-to-day operations and maintenance activities throughout the facility. Perform a combination of field, office, inspection, maintenance, and administrative duties. Qualifications Candidates should have a strong general understanding of construction, infrastructure, maintenance, or field operations and be comfortable working independently.

Preferred qualifications include:

Valid driver's license. Ability to successfully complete a background check. Basic computer and technology skills. Ability to use handheld electronic devices for inspections and reporting. Experience using email and electronic calendars. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to complete electronic reports and documentation. Ability to read and interpret basic engineering plans and drawings. Familiarity with basic surveying procedures. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify infrastructure deficiencies and recommend maintenance or repair solutions. Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to coordinate or direct contractors, temporary employees, or laborers. Familiarity with construction safety practices and OSHA requirements. Basic knowledge of flood-response procedures and equipment. Familiarity with vegetation management, herbicides, weed control, or invasive-species identification is helpful. Preferred Experience Approximately 3-10 years of combined experience in construction, infrastructure maintenance, public works, heavy civil construction, field inspection, equipment maintenance, or a related area is preferred. Candidates should have experience across several of the following areas: Earthwork and general earthmoving procedures. Earthen slope repair and maintenance. Culvert maintenance and repair. Ditch and drainage-system maintenance. Gravel road maintenance. Asphalt repair and maintenance. Concrete and structural-component inspections. Vegetation, grass, tree, and shrub maintenance. Basic mechanical troubleshooting. Basic electrical troubleshooting. Working safely around construction equipment and machinery. Flood-control or emergency-response activities. Candidates do not need to be certified experts in every area. A broad, hands-on understanding across multiple construction and maintenance disciplines is preferred. Schedule & Work Environment This is a full-time position based in the Fargo, ND area . The role includes a combination of outdoor field work and office responsibilities. Candidates should be comfortable working around construction sites, roads, drainage systems, heavy equipment, vegetation, and other infrastructure. Occasional extended hours may be required due to weather conditions, seasonal maintenance, project needs, or emergency situations. Limited evening, weekend, and on-call availability may also be required. Compensation $75,000-$80,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications.
