: Supervise the work of the maintenance department. This includes scheduling, providing oversite of work, offering feedback and evaluations, and hiring and firing maintenance staff with the advice of the Executive Director. Keep detailed and organized records, work with outside building contractors and supervise their work when necessary, monitor and order building supplies, and advise the Building & Grounds Committee. Performs general cleaning and minor maintenance to maintain library buildings, grounds, and equipment in clean, orderly and functional condition. Works cooperatively and communicates effectively with, other Department Heads and library staff, visitors, and/or system/district libraries when required.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Receives oral or written direction from Executive Director. 2. Makes certain that the Central Library, North Branch, South Branch, and Plains Branch are cleaned and well maintained. 3. Along with other maintenance staff members, open and close Central library building for the rest of the staff. 4. Works to maintain accurate records and ensures that routine and nonroutine building issues are addressed in a timely matter. 5. Oversee the performance of other staff members in the maintenance department and train new members of the department. 6. Do staff evaluations according to schedule announced by Executive Director. 7. Participates in the ongoing cleaning and maintenance routines of all library facilities. 8. Dry and wet mop all floors in stack area, restrooms, hallway, stairway, foyers and 2nd floor elevator lobby as well as the elevator. 9. Clean restroom fixtures in public restrooms and men's staff restroom; replenish supplies if needed and make sure all other surfaces are cleaned. 10. Assist other members of the department in cleaning if time permits. 11. Clean window sills, radiators, etc. in stack area. 12. Assist in emptying auto pages if needed. 13. Patrol library if possible every hour; checking general cleanliness of the library. 14. Assist with errands outside the library such as mail delivery, supply pick-up, and retrieving donated items. 15. Ensure proper setup and cleanup for meetings and programs. 16. Patrol parking lot for unauthorized vehicles and for the general safety of employee's vehicles; also, for general cleanliness. 17. Perform other staff members' work who might be on vacation or who are ill. 18. Make simple repairs. 19. Inform Executive Director when there are repairs or renovations to be made. 20. Do simple painting. 21. Make certain sidewalks are clear of ice and snow in the winter. 22. Plant flowers and maintain flower beds throughout the season; also plant flowers at the Osterhout gravesite at the Hollenback Cemetery on North River Street in Wilkes-Barre. 23. Cut and trim grass, also trim shrubbery; clean up leaves in the fall. 24. Drive van for Inter-Library Loan if necessary. 25. Make purchases of cleaning supplies and other materials necessary to maintain the building. 26. Assist in setting up meeting room and other sections of the library for meetings or programs. Stay during program if needed. 27. Help in the set-up and if necessary the dismantling of the annual Booksale. Bring up materials that are for the sale during the week. 28. Come in on holidays to empty auto pages (book returns) at Central. 29. Respond to fire and security alarm calls. 30. Perform any other task required by the Executive Director.
OTHER DUTIES OF THE JOB
1. Attends meetings and training as required. 2. Maintains tools and equipment in the workplace. 3. Keeps work area organized and neat. 4. Works safely without presenting a direct threat to self or other staff. 5. Performs other job-related duties as required.
