Engineering Technician Fourth Power Middleton, MA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Procedural guides Moving Full Job Description Engineering Technician, Operations Fourth Power is developing and commercializing the lowest cost energy storage technology on the market to enable the utility grid to operate 24/7/365 on renewable energy. Our batteries store heat in low-cost carbon blocks at up to 2400 degrees Celsius - half the temperature of the sun. The batteries then convert this heat back to electricity using thermophotovoltaics (TPV) on demand. Fourth Power is looking for highly skilled, experienced, and motivated individuals who share our passion for mitigating climate change. Job Description We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join the Fourth Power Operations team. You will be responsible for building, operating, and maintaining Fourth Power's development systems. Your Role Execute machining, fabrication, and assembly tasks with direction from project engineers. Tasks may include fabricating parts, assembling extrusion or unistrut structures, connecting piping, and wiring instrumentation. Work with stakeholders to design and fabricate simple fixtures Work directly with engineers to assist with troubleshooting and remediation work Set up, operate, and break down experiments with direction of project engineers. Assist with equipment upkeep and maintenance Support engineering activities by receiving and putting away materials, maintaining workshop space, maintaining shared tools, and maintaining equipment. Qualifications 5 or more years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance, mechanical assembly, or construction. Proficiency in a machine shop with manual and semi-automated machines such as lathes, mills, drill presses, etc. Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, calipers, handsaws, powered saws, etc. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook. Experience taking a basic concept through design and fabrication. Experience writing procedures and other technical documentation. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills to collaborate with fellow engineers and technicians. Ability to move boxes weighing up to 25lbs regularly. This is a full-time on-site, hourly (non-exempt) role with opportunity for overtime.
