Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Supermarket Refrigeration Technician, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing refrigeration systems that keep our grocery stores running smoothly. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure optimal refrigeration performance. Your expertise will directly impact the freshness of products and the overall shopping experience for customers. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and HVAC units within supermarket environments. Install new refrigeration equipment and HVAC systems following schematics and design specifications. Perform routine maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components of refrigeration and HVAC systems to ensure peak performance. Troubleshoot electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot equipment failures efficiently. Read and interpret schematics, building automation systems, and technical manuals to guide repairs and installations. Conduct equipment troubleshooting to identify issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety standards such as EPA regulations. Collaborate with team members to improve system efficiency, perform preventative maintenance, and upgrade existing mechanical systems. Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, and parts used for accountability and future reference. Experience Proven construction experience with mechanical systems repair or HVAC system installation in commercial settings. Service technician experience working with refrigeration units, HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration), or related mechanical systems. Strong knowledge of schematics, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, HVAC design principles, and building automation systems. Hands-on experience using hand tools, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues. Familiarity with refrigerants, boiler operation, appliance repair, air conditioning systems, and HVAC system maintenance is highly desirable. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (including driver if applicable). Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are required; additional certifications in HVAC or electrical work are a plus.
