Job Description
CoolSys is seeking a Refrigeration Start-Up Technician to commission and optimize commercial and industrial HVAC-R systems for retail, commercial, and mission-critical customers. In this Engineering & Maintenance role, you'll perform system start-ups, calibrations, and functional testing; verify controls and sequence of operations; troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; and document performance. You'll collaborate with project engineers and installers, support energy-efficient solutions, and ensure safety, code compliance, and customer satisfaction in a hands-on, field-based environment with strong technical training and growth opportunities. Responsibilities Perform start-up, commissioning, and functional testing of commercial and industrial refrigeration and HVAC-R systems Verify controls, setpoints, and sequence of operations for optimal performance and energy efficiency Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and controls issues during start-up Calibrate sensors, check refrigerant charge, and document system performance readings Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company procedures on all job sites Collaborate with engineers, installers, and project managers to resolve field issues and refine designs Provide clear start-up reports, documentation, and punch-list items for project turnover Support customer training on basic system operation and communicate findings professionally Maintain tools, test equipment, and a clean, organized work environment Participate in ongoing technical training and follow Cool Sys safety-first, customer-focused culture Required Skills Commercial refrigeration systems HVAC-R electrical troubleshooting Reading schematics and wiring diagrams Controls and sequence of operations System commissioning and start-up Refrigerant handling and charging Digital gauges and diagnostic tools Testing and balancing procedures Code compliance and safety practices Technical documentation and reporting
