Formica Plumbing & Sewer Co. Full-Time | Year-Round Work | Hourly Position Are you an experienced sewer or drain technician who knows how to diagnose problems—not just clear blockages? Formica Plumbing & Sewer Co. is looking for an experienced Sewer Service & Sales Technician to join our team. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a sewer service call from start to finish: talk with the customer, investigate the problem, clean or maintain the sewer when appropriate, perform camera inspections, accurately diagnose the system, explain the findings, and provide repair or replacement options when needed. This is NOT a high-pressure sales position. We believe the diagnosis comes before the sale. Sometimes the correct recommendation is to clean and maintain a sewer. Sometimes it's a localized repair. Sometimes the system legitimately needs replaced. We need someone who knows the difference.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform sanitary and storm sewer camera inspections Diagnose sewer backups and drainage problems Perform sewer and drain cleaning Perform hydro-jetting and preventative maintenance Operate sewer cameras and electronic locating equipment Identify roots, cracks, offsets, breaks, collapses, infiltration, bellies and other sewer defects Work with clay, cast iron, PVC and other common sewer materials Locate sewer laterals, inspection risers, cleanouts, traps and problem areas Inspect storm sewer systems, downspouts, catch basins and branch lines Determine when additional testing or investigation is necessary Document findings with photos, camera footage, locations and measurements Clearly explain findings to residential and commercial customers Present appropriate maintenance, repair and sewer replacement options Prepare estimates using established company pricing Help customers understand their options and make an informed decision Provide complete job information to our excavation crew for approved projects Complete ServiceTitan documentation Maintain assigned sewer equipment and service vehicle
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We want someone with real sewer and drain experience who is comfortable operating equipment, diagnosing problems and communicating with customers.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A SALESPERSON
If you're an experienced sewer technician who is good with customers but haven't worked in a sales position, we still want to talk to you. We can teach our estimating and customer presentation process. We're more interested in finding someone who understands sewer systems, has good judgment, communicates well and takes pride in giving customers accurate information. This is a strictly hourly position.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time, year-round work Hourly position Established customer base Professional sewer camera and diagnostic equipment Drain cleaning and jetting equipment Established excavation and sewer repair crew Established pricing and estimating process ServiceTitan Opportunity to take ownership of sewer service and diagnostic appointments Opportunity to grow into a key position within our sewer division
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE A
successful technician should be able to arrive at a property, listen to the customer's concerns, investigate the system and determine: Is this a maintenance issue? Does the sewer need cleaned or jetted? Is additional diagnosis necessary? Is there a localized structural failure? Would a spot repair solve the problem? Is a larger repair or replacement justified? The technician should then be able to show the customer what was found, explain the condition clearly, present appropriate options and answer questions confidently.
OUR STANDARD
We do not recommend sewer replacement simply because a sewer is old. Our recommendations are based on actual findings. We expect our technicians to be thorough, honest and confident. When a sewer is serviceable, tell the customer. When maintenance is appropriate, recommend maintenance. When a sewer legitimately requires repair or replacement, we expect you to have the technical knowledge to identify the problem, document it, explain why the work is necessary and present the appropriate solution.
REQUIREMENTS
