A Telecommunications Field Technician telecommunications Field Service Technician installs, repairs and maintains voice, data and video systems for a company's customers at the customer site. Prepares and documents a customer's network prior to implementing telecommunication system. Installs IP, network equipment and facilities. Acts as the first point of issue resolution, responds to field engineering issues and troubleshooting telecommunication problems. May train less experienced field technicians.

Job Description
Responsibilities
- Supporting acceptance testing / routine maintenance of Transmission and Distribution substation power equipment, relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state and microprocessor), pilot channel equipment (power line carrier, (testing of carrier set, tuning unit, wave trap), pilot wire, transfer trip, fiber optic, CT's, CCVT's, line tuners, line traps, etc.
- ing test procedures for various types of relay test equipment
- Substation awareness and Safety consciousness
- Aptitude to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment
- Good PC skills and the ability to support testing activities as required by the project leadMinimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of 3 phase power systems; power system protection & control schemes; test equipment; test equipment software
- Field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes preferred.
- Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage
- Interpretation of wiring and elementary diagrams; basic test skills to perform duties listed above, basic PC skills
- Learn and apply client's switching procedures and safety measures under direct supervision
- Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications
- Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors
- Quickly learn and apply test procedure for various types of substation equipment
- Candidates must be able to perform physical activity such as pushing, pulling, lifting and bending in all types of weather extremes
- Candidates must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. without assistance
- Associate of Science in Electrical Technology (AET) or equivalent specialized training in system protection
- Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English
- Valid Driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (inclusive of reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients.
